Beat_Bullying(part 3) TAKE A STAND AND MAKE THE PLEDGE!

Depression comes before self harming and suicide because they think that there isn’t a way to escape and they need that relief.

One story that really hit home was an American boy who got bullied for being gay.  His name was Jamey Rodemeyer. He was only 14 years old and he idol was lady gaga because no matter what she always came back on top. He made video’s kind of like a video blog but instead he was telling people that it got easier and that there were loads of ways of getting support and help. He made videos called “It gets better, I promise” he had to put up with months of bullying and he ended up also having lots of counselling. On the video there were hundreds of bullying comments saying about God and how the bible doesn’t condone gay people but yet there were hundreds of comments saying he was a hero and how what he went through was horrible. After Lady Gaga had heard about it she then later quoted “Jamey Rodemeyer, 14-yrs-old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must become illegal. It is a hate crime. The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone's life.” http://news.sky.com/home/world-news/article/16075233 people never think of the consequences of bullying and because of that he ended up taking his own life. The teen had told people loads of times about how bad the bullying got and no one ever listened so our main objective is to hope it never gets this bad.  Another boy who committed suicide was Tyler Clementi, and he committed suicide because his room mate and university filmed him kissing another man and put it online for hundreds of people to see. After making several complaints about his room mate and no one listened he couldn’t take it any more so he killed himself.
Hundreds of people kill themselves because of bullying and it isn’t right. People who have been bullied before should stand up and defend people who are being bullied because remember how you felt when you though you were on your own. You must of felt scared, intimidated, hurt, upset and now think about how they must feel.  Put a stop to all this bullying.  ‘TWLOHA’ stands for; ‘To Write Love On Her Arms’ and even though it isn’t 24 hours long or has trained people on it; it still helps! It is just normal people who are ready to help and listen....have a look!

Beat_Bullying (Part 2)

I spoke to Lorren Morroll about her experience of being bullied and she said “I used to get bullied because of my hair colour. They used to make me upset, all I wanted to do was go and cry. I didn’t tell anyone at first because I didn’t know who to go to and I was scared to go to the teacher in case the bullying got worse. I felt useless and I felt like it was my fault. I eventually went to the teacher and it got sorted, I would recommend anyone who has been bullied or who has seen people get bullied go to a teacher because there is help and people aren’t on there own. Tell a teacher before it is too late”

Bullying is a vicious cycle because emotional pain can then lead to physical pain and then can lean to self harm. People always make jokes about they’re going to go harm themselves but it really isn’t a laughing matter. Everyone says that people who ‘cut’ do it to get attention but when you ask them or imagine yourselves in there shoes then you can see that they think it’s their only way out. Cutting isn’t a choice for them, when life really does get too much for some people and they have that first cut it’s like a pain release, it’s a lot like drugs once you have had that one hit you have to have it again but as you start to do it more frequent it takes a lot more to get a release like the first on you had. Some people aren’t happy with what they are doing but they can’t see any other way.  There are lots of reasons why people cut, for instance if people are getting bullied or if people are stressed. Another reason why people cut is when they are at home and maybe it isn’t the best environment say if there are people arguing you might just need to d it. If you are self harming or know people who are you need to get help. There are hundreds of confidential websites you can ask for, there are forums which you can sign up to which people who are going through the same thing as you are on and it is all confidential. There are also lots of people at school to help you and also lots of help lines which can help you.  Cutting isn’t the only way of harming yourself because of bullying, you have people who give themselves emotional torment and medicine and in extreme cases people kill themselves. Everybody jokes by saying “I’m going to jump in front of a bus” or “now you’ve said that I’m going to kill myself” but this isn’t a joking matter. Hundreds of people kill themselves all over the world because of bullying.

There are hundreds of reasons why people get bullied; these are of people sexuality, the way they dress, the way they act, there hair color, there eye color, the way they talk, there religion,  there name, there beliefs or there interests. I think that the reasons people bully are stupid.
When people start to get bullied a big after effect is bullying; there are lots of signs of bullying and some are;
·         Sadness or crying.
·         Feeling tired and complaining
·         Changes in appetite or sleep.
·         Loss of interest in doing things.
·         Trouble thinking or concentrating.
·         Spending more time alone.
·         Feeling hopeless or worthless.
·         Having suicidal thoughts
Even though you might not be able to see some of these they might drop ‘subtle’ hints.

Beat_Bullying (part 1)

There are lots of ways of bullying, you may bully someone without noticing it but it still isn’t nice and it can still hurt people. There are lots of different ways you can bully someone;
Cyber bullying is where you post nasty things of people on the internet and say things to them on social networking sites. Cyber bullying isn’t a nice thing at all; the internet is there to help you not to make you feel bad. If you have been a victim of cyber bullying or you are still being a victim of cyber bullying tell somebody or press the little red button which is on all social networking sites.

Emotional/psychological abuse is where you make people feel bad or make them feel worthless. This is also when you make up rumours about them so they become paranoid. If this is happening to you or you see it happening to somebody before it’s too late.
Physical abuse is where you physically hit or touch somebody so they get hurt; this is the worst type of abuse because this can cross in with emotional/psychological abuse and also verbal abuse. If this happens you should tell somebody immediately.
Verbal abuse is where you call people names or make up rumours or say nasty things about people, if you see this you should tell somebody.

I personally had an experience with bullying as well and I don’t ever want to go back to that; I got bullied because I am ginger. It started of with a few names so I never took any notice but then people started to send rumours about me around.  I never went to teacher because I though it would sort it self out but it went on form year 7 to year 9. I hated school life because of it people were texting me, name calling and sending me nasty messages over the internet. I remember thinking that I hated life; I felt like it was my fault and I always used to just pretend that it didn’t affect me but when I got home I used to just hide in my room and cry, I never told my mum or my brother and I never told a teacher. I never told a teacher because I was scared that it would get worse because I was ‘grassed’. There were a group of girls in particular and when I was on the bus on my own they all started on me and I ended up getting off the bus early and I was lost.  My mum used to always ask me but I denied it now I really regret that.  I remember how exactly I feel, I remember being chased because a girl though it would be funny to send round lies about me. I felt useless and I just closed myself off and kept to myself. One day my mum saw my facebook page and she read some of the messages and I was distraught because I though I was in trouble but my mum came into school and spoke to my head teacher and when she didn’t address the situation straight away my mum took me out off school and they quickly resolved it then. I remember how relieved I felt when the school took it seriously and we spoke about it and they had to apologise.  So talking to teachers really does help and they really do make it better; you feel so much safer when you tell someone. Once you tell a teacher you will feel so much safer within school and you feel like you don’t have to watch your back everywhere you go.  It will also make you feel that you can go to school happily without trying to guess what lies people have told about you now and that you can actually get the bus home without getting bullied or forced off it.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” is all lies; sticks and stones will break your bones but at least you can get it sorted out and get pain medications and the affects of breaking your bones shouldn’t last forever but words can. Words might not hurt you physically but they can hurt you emotionally. Emotional pain is much worse than physical because you can spot it easier than emotional and repercussions could be more dangerous.
